On Thursday, September 23, 2021, Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing participated for the ninth consecutive year in Communities Foundation of Texas’ annual North Texas Giving Day, designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes. Online donations were made from 6 a.m. to midnight on North Texas Giving Day to nonprofits listed on www.NorthTexasGivingDay.org.

COVID-19 has further highlighted need for nurses who fill a critical care role in a public health crisis. Dr. Linda Plank is a 30-year nursing veteran and longtime educator who was named Dean of Baylor’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) this spring. On Saturday, September 18, over 100 alumni gathered at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing Academic Building in Dallas for our annual Alumni Reunion. Although the event normally recognizes all graduates celebrating their 50th, 40th, and 30th anniversaries, this year was made doubly special as we honored not only the classes of 1971, 1981, and 1991, but also the classes of 1970, 1980, and 1990.
Baylor University moved up to No. 75 among National Universities – with several academic programs and opportunities for undergraduates highly rated – in the latest rankings for 2022 released today by U.S. News & World Report. LHSON was noted at No. 58 – Best Undergraduate Nursing Programs.

About 120 senior-level, second-semester nursing students and assigned faculty with Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing have volunteered to help administer the COVID-19 Moderna vaccine at the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District vaccination clinic. Every Thursday through March at the Waco Convention Center, two faculty and about two dozen nursing students will help at each weekly clinic. The nursing school also plans to assist with vaccination clinics at Baylor Scott & White Health in Dallas and Plano, Parkland Hospital in Dallas and several other Dallas-area hospitals in the weeks ahead.

Striving to remain competitive in an ever-changing academic environment, the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) reimagined its Clinical Simulation Building (CSB) in late fall 2020 to grow in scope and stature. The CSB admitted several new patients, also known as manikins or high-fidelity simulators, to its expanded patient care area floors.
