LHSON Supports NTX Giving Day for 9th Year
On Thursday, September 23, 2021, Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) participated for the ninth consecutive year in Communities Foundation of Texas’ annual North Texas Giving Day, designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes. Online donations were made from 6 a.m. to midnight on North Texas Giving Day to nonprofits listed on www.NorthTexasGivingDay.org.
In 2020, $58.8 million was raised through 106,000 donors benefiting over 3,200 local nonprofits, bringing the eleven-year total to over $374 million for our community. Thanks to the sustaining generosity of 148 donors during this action-packed, 18-hour, online giving day, the LHSON raised $28,435!
“What a blessing our Baylor alumni, parents and friends are to LHSON,” said Janis Kovar, Senior Director of Development, Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. “We appreciate the generous donors especially those who inspired increased support with giving challenges. All of the gifts made that day to the LHSON were truly appreciated and together make a big difference to our nursing students.”
In the spirit of North Texas Giving Day, LHSON fueled fundraising excitement with fun activities throughout the day in the lobby of the Academic Building at 333 North Washington Avenue. The LHSON bear mascot was the center of attention for many photo ops and volunteers managed a giving table adorned with fall décor, giveaways and the convenience of multiple laptops to make online gifts. Later in the afternoon we handed out fresh popcorn. Additionally, we had giving challenges thanks to a few generous donors who offered their support to inspire a class challenge, alumni challenge, and faculty/staff challenge.
