Work and Education
Dr. Harwell has served as an Adjunct Faculty member at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing since 2025, providing instruction to undergraduate nursing students in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. Specializing in obstetrical nursing, she holds certifications as an RNC-OB and C-EFM and brings extensive experience in maternal-newborn and high-acuity obstetrical care to nursing education and student mentorship.
Dr. Harwell’s doctoral research project focused on preeclampsia and the use of standardized clinical algorithms to improve maternal outcomes by enhancing early recognition, reducing practice variability, and supporting timely intervention. This work demonstrated the potential for improved patient safety and outcomes through consistent, evidence-based management strategies and was recognized as ACU’s Best DNP Project of the Year in 2025.

Dr. Harwell maintains active professional memberships in the Texas Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, reflecting her commitment to ongoing professional engagement, standards of practice, and advancement of maternal-newborn nursing care.
Community
Dr. Harwell is actively engaged in community service through participation in her local church and volunteers with her children working with programs such as Meals on Wheels.
