Remy (Luz) Tolentino

Remy (Luz) Tolentino, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, is Retired System Vice President, Nursing Workforce & Leadership Development for Baylor Scott & White Health where she served from January 1981 through April 2024. Her professional experience includes a clinical background in Adult Critical Care and Cardiovascular Nursing.

She has held many leadership positions over the years that include: Nurse Manager; Director; Service line Vice President for Critical Care and Cardiovascular Services; Chief Nursing Officer for 1000-bed academic medical center, Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC), and System Vice President for Baylor Scott & White Health.

Notably, Remy has had a distinguished career. She led BUMC to its first Magnet designation in 2004.  She also helped spearhead the creation of the facility’s Rapid Response Team, palliative care model and shared governance model, which were adopted Systemwide.

Additionally, as System Vice President, Nursing Workforce & Leadership Development, Remy was instrumental in expanding the shared governance model to all facilities and establishing councils at the System level.  In addition to serving on or leading several of the BSW nursing and workforce councils, she and her team created leadership development programs for leaders at every level. 

Revered for her expertise, Remy has delivered many podium and poster presentations at local, regional and national conferences as well as research and publications in the areas of servant leadership, leadership development and workplace violence.

She served as adjunct clinical instructor at Baylor Louise Herrington School of Nursing and University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing. She also earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Texas Women’s University, her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Texas at Arlington and achieved national board certification as a Nursing Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC). 

Has served as a voting member/chairman of the board for hospital boards as well as an advisory board member for various professional organizations.  Currently, she serves as a director on the Baylor Health Care System Credit Union Board and on the Board of Advocates for the Baylor Louise Herrington School of Nursing.
