Work and Education
Doctor Priscilla Garrett worked her way from an associate degree of nursing to her DNP through a variety of Michigan Institutions. She has taught nursing at many colleges and Universities in Michigan including Wayne State University, Oakland Community College, and Oakland University for 5 years. Her main area of expertise is mental health, and she has been teaching psychiatric theory and care through lectures, lab, and clinical settings. Her lectures are informed by over 20 years of work in the outpatient and inpatient settings including Kadima, Ascension/ Henry Ford Hospital, and CNS healthcare. She has spent the last 4 years as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at CNS Healthcare in Waterford, Michigan as well as her own private practice in Farmington Hills, Michigan. She has a love for community mental health but also works in addiction, child/adolescent, and couples therapy.

Committees
At her past institution, Professor Garrett has served on many Nursing School Committees. These include the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, the General education committee, and the Assessment Committee. She also has worked on the Nursing workforce and Diversity NWD-ASPIRE grant as an academic mentor and was in the Honor’s College Faculty for student collaborative work.

Community
Finally, Priscilla Garret has recently moved to Arlington Texas all the way from Detroit Michigan this January. She was involved in her local community and others as a member of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and two dogs. She looks forward to acclimating to the (hopefully) warmer weather while serving her new community and finding a church home to quench her desire to serve others.
