Mike Malone grew up in New Jersey, the oldest in a family of four siblings. His father was a World War II veteran who served in Europe and who worked for E.R. Squibb for 40 years post war. His mother was a pediatric nurse who trained at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Mike then went to the University of Dayton, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry.
Mike has been with The Richards Group, one of the country’s largest independent branding and marketing agencies in the country, for over three decades. He has worked on clients like The Home Depot, Chick-Fil-A, Motel 6, Continental Airlines, Orkin, Metro by T-Mobile, and Charles Schwab. He began his working life back in North Carolina, first as a sportswriter, then as one of the first field reps for EDS when they took their initial steps into medical data processing.
Mike and his wife, Alison, have dedicated their lives to helping find a cure for pediatric cancer and contributing to the wellbeing of the patients and their families. They created Team Michael to honor their son Michael, who passed away when he was seven, following a two-and-a-half-year battle with Stage IV Neuroblastoma. Team Michael gets most of their focus, and is now affiliated with Children’s Cancer Fund.
Mike has four children in addition to Michael. Patrick, a graduate of Oklahoma City University, who is married to Jillian and has a daughter named Ramona, and lives in Flower Mound. Jennie, who is married to Chip, both graduates of the University of Georgia, with a daughter named Ryan; Jennie chose a career in health care administration, and they live in Birmingham, Alabama. Sam, a graduate of The University of Texas, who is following in his father’s footsteps as an aspiring advertising writer and lives in Houston. And finally, Emory, their dedicated athlete, who is in the 8th grade at Highland Park Middle School.
Mike and Alison spend most weekends following their daughter across the country for her soccer travel league. But in the rest of his free time, Mike enjoys spending as much time as possible at their family lake house in Lake Kiowa, Texas, playing golf, reading and traveling.
