Dr. Meagan Soltwisch is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Louise Herrington School of Nursing. She is a certified Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse practitioner (DNP, FNP-C) who has over 13 years of experience in urgent care, primary care, as well as telehealth. Dr. Soltwisch is a Clinical Associate Professor at Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. She received her BSN from Washington State University and her MSN and DNP from Gonzaga University. She is board certified through AANP.
By applying evidence-based practice and current research, she is well equipped to educate patients and their families about their disease processes, expected outcomes, and healthy behaviors. As an DNP, FNP-C, her priority and focus are on education and prevention while treating and diagnosing patients all the while giving compassionate and empathetic care to all her patients. Dr. Soltwisch listens carefully to her patients and cherishes the trust and bond she as with each and everyone of them. It is an honor to be their provider.
The research and scholarship she has focused on has been the overuse of antibiotics within the urgent care clinic, toolkit development for telehealth in rural communities, Interprofessional Education between Athletic Training and Family Nurse Practitioner Programs, mHealth technology for HIV/AIDS -positive female patients, implementation of PHQ-9 in urgent care settings, toolkit development for new FNP graduates, and FNP ethics training. And her latest research focus is on Sabbath practices and the relationship of burnout.
Dr. Soltwisch loves to be with her husband, their three children, and their poochie Obie. She enjoys being involved in their church, being outside as much as possible, reading, cooking delicious meals, and trying new restaurants
Teaching and role-modeling evidence-based practice to BSN, MSN, and DNP students has allowed her to share her passion for improving patient outcomes across a broad spectrum and to encourage future nurses in healthcare. It’s an exciting time in nursing and she is thrilled to be a part of the profession.
Professional awards and activities include being a peer reviewer for Consultant360 journal, award recipient of the Saint Joan D’Arc Medallion Award recipient (US Army outstanding volunteer), Dr. Mary Walker Medal of Honor Army service award, and leader of Family Readiness Group responsible for fundraising for deployed troops. Memberships include, Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, Rho Lambda Honor Society, outstanding student award at Washington State University 2006, and distinguished DNP student at Gonzaga University.
