Work and Education
Dr. Marie Lindley has been a registered nurse for more than 30 years and has taught nursing at the undergraduate and graduate levels for more than 20 years. She joined Baylor University in January 2016 and currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Louise Herrington School of Nursing. During her time at Baylor, she has held several academic leadership positions, including Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation, and Director of the MSN Leadership and Innovation Program. In these roles, she has provided leadership for simulation, educational technology, accreditation, student services, information technology, and academic operations.

Prior to joining Baylor, Dr. Lindley taught at The University of Texas at Arlington, where she directed the MSN in Nursing Education program, and she served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University in the City of New York. Her teaching and leadership are informed by extensive clinical experience as an emergency and trauma nurse, acute care nurse practitioner, nurse manager, Director of Emergency and Critical Care Services, and Acting Co-Chief Nursing Officer.

Dr. Lindley earned her PhD from The University of Texas at Arlington, her MSN as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Columbia University in the City of New York, and her BSN from William Paterson University. She is also a Certified Nurse Educator.

Committees
Dr. Lindley has provided leadership and service through nursing school, university, state, national, and international professional organizations. At Baylor, her service has included curriculum and policy committees, program effectiveness, educational technology, graduate education, and university-level initiatives related to academic operations, student retention, and artificial intelligence. Nationally and internationally, she is active with the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning, including service on the Education Committee, chair of the INACSL AI Scholarship Interest Group, and review activities related to simulation standards and education. She is also an alum from the National League for Nursing Leadership Institute - Simulation Leadership. Dr. Lindley has held multiple leadership roles with the Texas Nurses Association, including President of District 4, Immediate Past President and Executive Board member, State Policy Committee member, and Chair of the Workforce and Education Subcommittee, and advisor and representative for nursing education and advocacy activities.

Articles and Presentations
Dr. Lindley’s scholarship focuses on simulation-based education, educational technology, artificial intelligence, online and distance education, academic leadership, and innovative approaches to nursing education. Her recent work includes research on the integration of artificial intelligence in simulation-based education and operations, development and study of a custom GPT for simulation design, and the SAfER-AI Use™ Framework for ethical and responsible AI use in nursing education. She has presented her work at international and national conferences, including the International Nursing Research Congress, the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare, the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Her scholarship also includes externally funded research addressing simulation, women’s health, public health competencies, interprofessional education, and emerging educational technologies.
