Work and Education
Dr. LaMicha Hogan has recently joined the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing and is teaching in the Graduate programs, FNP track. Beginning her 20th year of teaching, she has taught across various tracks of APRN and non-APRN students at the MSN, DNP, and BSN-DNP levels in Texas. Her expertise focuses on primary care management and the role of the APRN and is informed by 20 years of advanced practice nursing serving rural populations and health care settings throughout West Texas.
Committees
She will be serving on the Graduate Studies and Program Effectiveness Committees for LHSON this year. Past experience in academic governance committees has included graduate studies, professional development, and institutional leadership. She has served as a committee member for the NONPF Finance Committee, a Texas Nurse Practitioner University Ambassador, past president of the South Plains Great 25 Nurses Organization and was selected as an AACN ELAN (Elevated Leaders in Academic Nursing) Fellow in 2022.
Articles and Presentations
Dr. Hogan has contributed to nursing and rural health publications and previously served as P.I. for a successful HRSA funded grant. She has delivered multiple presentations at AACN Doctoral Conferences on innovative teaching practices for APRNs, curriculum and leadership transitions. In 2025, she co-authored the article “The year long journey: Transforming the BSN-DNP curriculum” in the Journal of Professional Nursing. Since 2023, she has served on the advisory board for the Rural Health Quarterly Journal and more recently, as a reviewer for the Journal of Professional Nursing.
Community
Aside from spending time with her husband, her mother and two adult children, she is an active member of Second Baptist Church in Lubbock. She serves in youth and music ministries and continues to practice as an APRN in rural West Texas.
