Dr. Katy Vogelaar is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing, where she is dedicated to preparing future nurses and nurse practitioners for impactful practice. A proud alumna, Dr. Vogelaar holds two degrees from Baylor University (BSN ’09, DNP ’17). She teaches a range of undergraduate courses, including those for pre-nursing students on the Waco campus, traditional BSN students, and students in the Distance Accelerated BSN program.

As a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Vogelaar specializes in emergency medicine, urgent care, and allergy and asthma care. She is passionate about improving healthcare access for underserved populations and mobilizing Christian medical providers to use their God-given skills in service to others. Her clinical experience includes serving as the lead advanced practice provider at an urgent care clinic for uninsured and underinsured patients, operated by Watermark Community Church in Dallas, TX. After moving to Waco in 2021, Dr. Vogelaar used her experience at Watermark to establish Highland Wellness Center Urgent Care, a faith-based clinic serving the uninsured in McLennan County. In addition to volunteering weekly at Highland Urgent Care, Dr. Vogelaar maintains an active clinical practice in an allergy and asthma clinic in Waco, TX.

She also served as the chair of the Louise Herrington School of Nursing Faculty Organization for the 2024–2025 academic year.

Dr. Vogelaar’s scholarly work focuses on improving healthcare access for underserved populations and fostering cultural competency in nursing students through interprofessional education.
