Dr. David Baba is a Clinical Associate Professor of Nursing with over two decades of global experience in nursing education, research, and clinical practice. He has taught across academic institutions in Ghana, Texas, and Massachusetts, preparing the next generation of nurses through rigorous classroom instruction, simulation-based learning, and culturally informed mentorship.
He currently teaches mental health at the Louise Herrington School of Nursing, Baylor University. His extensive clinical background includes mental health, pediatric care, and complex medical-surgical nursing. Before joining Baylor University, Dr. Baba served as Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Assistant Professor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he led faculty efforts in student wellness and simulation.
Dr. Baba is a true servant-leader whose teaching is deeply rooted in compassion, faith, and equity. His dedication to mentoring underrepresented and international students is unwavering. He has held numerous leadership roles, including Chair-Elect of the Professional Development Council and member of Faculty Senate committees, all of which he has approached with the same level of commitment and care.
Research Interests
Dr. Baba’s research focuses on:
- Medication adherence in chronic disease
- Shared decision-making and health equity
- Simulation and telehealth in nursing education
- Global health and vulnerable populations, including immigrants and veterans
Dr. Baba's recent scholarship includes integrative reviews and a quasi-experimental study exploring medication adherence among African American adults with type 2 diabetes. His commitment to expanding the scope and impact of nursing research through interprofessional collaboration and external funding is a testament to his ambition and drive in the field.

Community Engagement
Dr. Baba is the Director of the nonprofit Dofran Support Organization in Missouri, where he advocates for community health and education. He is a former assistant youth soccer coach, active faith leader, and dedicated family man. He is passionate about cross-cultural service and continues to work with vulnerable and underserved populations, both locally and globally.
