Dionne Magner, MS, RN
RN Simulation Educator
Dionne is a longtime nurse with a passion for teaching, learning, and service. She has many years of experience as a nurse and educator in the North Texas area with a focus on Veteran, community, and women’s health. She has been with the Louise Herrington School of Nursing since December 2022 as a Simulation RN at the Clinical Simulation Building.
Work and Education
Dionne’s education began in Louisiana, the state she grew up in, graduating from LSU Medical Center with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She moved to Texas shortly after graduation and worked in women’s health and school nursing until returning to school to complete her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Texas Woman’s University in 2013. As an educator, she has taught across the undergraduate nursing program and has been a course manager for nursing fundamentals and community health courses. She also has many years of teaching in an undergraduate nursing honors program. Before joining Baylor, Dionne was the regional vaccination RN for the non-profit Care Van whose mission was to serve North Texas families by providing free childhood vaccinations. Initially as a volunteer with Care Van and then as an employee, Dionne provided vaccinations to children at locations in their communities (mobile clinic). She was also the regional educator for surrounding vaccine providers providing training on vaccine screening and safe administration.
Awards and Honors
Ms. Magner was awarded, as part of the simulation team, the BaylorPlus Salute Award for her work with the FastBacc spring 2023 clinical orientation.
Professional Organizations and Committees
Ms. Magner is an active member of American Nurses Association (ANA), National League for Nursing (NLN) and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). Ms. Magner is a member of the Research and Scholarship committee at LHSON. Prior committee service includes Student Affairs (chair-elect).
Service
Professional service has included being faculty advisor to multiple student organizations that focused on social engagement and service for communities in need and Christian fellowship. Her community service includes volunteering for the Collin County Medical Corp, local health fairs, funeral reception committee member at her church, and local hospital seasonal vaccine drives.
