Chloe Silcox, MSN, RN, CHPN
Simulation Educator
Work/Education
Chloe Silcox graduated with her BSN from Baylor University LHSON in 2014 and has gained nursing experience in many areas including med/surg and end-of-life care. In her years at bedside, her knowledge and expertise led to roles such as nurse preceptor and charge nurse in multiple healthcare facilities. She continued her education to earn her MSN in Nursing Education from The University of Texas at El Paso.
Professor Silcox has taught at Baylor University LHSON since fall of 2020. She began as Adjunct Faculty in Level 1 Health Assessment Lab and Level 1 Med-Surg Clinical and transitioned to a full-time position as a Simulation Educator in 2022. In this role, she instructs the Health Assessment Lab throughout all undergraduate tracks, coordinates the graduate Advanced Health Assessment on-campus immersion, and facilitates various high-fidelity simulations for undergraduate students. Her passion for end-of-life care has led her to develop and improve the undergraduate Level 4 Oncology Elective simulation to include a more comprehensive learning experience about the various stages of the dying process. Her expertise in end-of-life nursing has led to her sharing her knowledge as a panelist for the Level 4 Death and Dying Seminar as well as the inaugural Baylor University Healthcare Interprofessional Week transition to hospice and end-of-life care panel in Waco, TX.
Presentations & Grants
Professor Silcox received the Faculty Development Innovation in Teaching Award from the Texas Organization of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Education in 2023 for her project “Equipping Nursing Students to Navigate End-of-Life Scenarios Using Collaboration During Simulation.”
She has presented a poster for this project at the UT Southwestern Simulation-Based QI and Research Forum in Dallas, TX, the Nurse Educator’s Conference in Breckenridge, CO and as a digital presentation at the SimGHOSTS conference in Omaha, NE.
