Work and Education
Dr. Butler, a native of Oklahoma, has been teaching part-time at LHSON for the past three years in the clinical track for both FastBacc and traditional nursing students. Her professional experience spans a range of nursing specialties, with a primary focus on community nursing. She has previously worked as a public health nurse at the Oklahoma City-County Health Department and Dallas County Health and Human Services. Additionally, she has served as a float community health nurse at Parkland Health Systems. She is currently a Parkland Community-Oriented Primary Care administrative team member for the Hypertension Community Health Needs Assessment.
Articles and Presentations
Dr. Butler consistently dedicates her efforts to advancing community health nursing by delivering annual presentations to FastBacc students on sexual health in the community. Most recently, she presented at a nursing conference for the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center, focusing on a quality improvement project to enhance sexual health literacy among high-risk patient populations.
Community
Lastly, Dr. Butler’s passion for the community drives her nursing career. Through her faith and efforts with Parkland Health, she advocates for vulnerable patient populations and educates community members on chronic diseases at outreach and community health events.
