Work and Education
Professor Moreno is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the graduate program at Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. She is developing the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care management and clinical courses along with teaching courses in the DNP Core and DNP PNP program. Prior to Baylor, Professor Moreno gained academic work experience at the University of Texas Medical Branch as Adjunct Faculty.
Professor Moreno’s clinical background is in pediatric neurosciences and critical care. She currently works as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Texas Children’s Hospital. She received the Department of Surgery Nurse Practitioner of the Year award at Texas Children’s Hospital in 2016.
Committees
Professor Moreno serves on the Graduate Studies/DNP Program Committee at Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. She also serves as the chair for the Innovative Solutions Council at Texas Children’s Hospital. Professor Moreno developed the Mentoring Program for Surgical Advanced Practice Providers at Texas Children’s Hospital.
She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and has served as Treasurer and President of the Houston Chapter. During her year as President she helped to develop the Houston Area Chapter NAPNAP 5K Walk to Stop Human Trafficking.
Articles and Presentations
Professor Moreno has contributed to several neuroscience journal publications. She has presented on “Pediatric Spasticity Management” and “Traumatic Brain Injury in the Pediatric Patient” at national and local conferences.
Community
Outside of her role as an educator and Nurse Practitioner, Amee Moreno spends time with her husband and five children. She is a member of the Praise and Worship Team at Second Baptist Church. She enjoys volunteering at church and working with special needs children. She has served as a “buddy” for individuals with special needs at New Hope Church and the Night to Shine events.
