Located in the heart of Dallas, the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing prepares baccalaureate and graduate level nurses within a Christian community for professional practice, healthcare leadership, and worldwide service. 

Undergraduate Programs

Students complete two years of upper-division professional coursework at the school (two years for BSN Traditional or 12 months for BSN FastBacc), located on the campus of Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, a world-famous teaching and research hospital, in a city that is known around the globe as one of the leading centers for medicine and health care.

Graduate Programs

The Louise Herrington School of Nursing offers the Baccalaureate in Nursing to Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees in Family Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwifery and Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner . We also offer a separate Doctor of Nursing Practice - Executive Nurse Leadership (DNP-ENL) degree and United States Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN).

Hosts 4th Annual Student Nurse Summer Camp 2026

The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing hosted its 4th annual Student Nurse Summer Camp on Friday, July 31 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. welcoming 112 registered campers (9th - 12th graders from local schools) plus adult volunteers. The camp allowed students to hear from nursing faculty, nursing students and tour the LHSON and Baylor University Medical Center. The campers learned about the nursing school program and admission requirements and observed a few basic nursing skills at the simulation stations. The priority focus was on the campers engagement and interaction so they could gain an understanding of what it looks like to be in nursing school.

Dr. Karen J. Foli Awarded Sigma 2026 International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame

The LHSON congratulates Dr. Karen J. Foli, PhD, RN, ANEF, FAAN, Louise Herrington Endowed Chair for Mental Health Nursing and Tenured Professor at the LHSON, on being selected as one of 26 nurse researchers inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society  International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame.

The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) hosted a FastBacc® White Coat Ceremony at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the LHSON Academic Building in the McLane Auditorium located at 333 North Washington in Dallas.

LHSON Donates to Emergency Relief Efforts for Venezuela Earthquake Tragedy

In an effort to support those impacted by the recent tragedy on June 24, 2026 in northern Venezuela of two devastating earthquakes, Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing is working alongside one of its nursing school alums, Andrea Alvarado, BU ’21, to coordinate an emergency relief effort for her home country of Venezuela. Her parents, Victor and Ina Alvarado, along with the Venezuelan Association in Austin, are helping to deliver supplies to Miami, Florida that will be sent directly to Venezuelan hospitals for victims affected by the massive earthquakes.
