LHSON Has Most Student Participation of All 12 BU Units on Baylor Giving Day

April 1, 2026

The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) hosted Baylor Giving Day on Monday, March 30, 2026 while students, faculty and staff were on campus. The official event was recognized at Baylor University (BU) in Waco on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and ran until 5:00 a.m. CT on Thursday, April 2, to accommodate the state of Hawaii. This annual 24-hour university-wide philanthropic event inspired the Baylor Family to make a gift to their favorite area of campus.

Whether donors gave $5 or $500, their gift combined with gifts of all sizes from others to fund initiatives like: scholarships, state-of-the-art facilities, hands-on learning opportunities, and more. The final results for 2026 reached new heights, raising more than $2.3 million from over 3,700 donors through nearly 4,400 gifts. Our LHSON students won the award, Most Student Participation in Baylor Giving Day 2026, out of all 12 units on the Baylor campus.

“What a blessing our Baylor family and friends are to the LHSON,” said Janis Kovar, Senior Director of Development, LHSON. “We truly appreciate the generosity of our wonderful donors and all the support on Baylor Giving Day which made such a big difference for our nursing students.”

The theme for Baylor Giving Day was, “One Day. One Family. One For Baylor.” The LHSON participated by providing lots of festive activities and giveaways in the lobby of the LHSON Academic Building such as: cohort giving competitions, free Swig dirty sodas, Baylor Trivia Wheel with prizes, and the return of the Giving Day Scavenger Hunt!  Also, seniors who made a gift of $5+ were eligible for a philanthropy cord. Plus, with a gift of $25+, donors received a pair of limited edition Sic ‘Em socks
