Faculty Member Receives Nurse Leader of the Year Award
Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) congratulates Annie Abraham, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CNE, Clinical Associate Professor and DNP-Family Nurse Practitioner Track Coordinator, who was named Nurse Leader of the Year by the Indian American Nurses Association of North Texas (IANANT) and was previously featured in the IANANT Spotlight.
Dr. Abraham was honored during National Nurses Week for her outstanding service, compassion and dedication as a nurse leader.
“I am deeply committed to preparing the next generation of nurse practitioners to lead with both excellence and compassion,” said Dr. Abraham.

Dr. Abraham oversees curriculum integrity, student progression, faculty collaboration, alignment with accreditation standards, and continuous quality improvement across the DNP-FNP track. She collaborates with faculty and clinical partners to ensure rigorous academic standards, strengthen clinical training experiences, and prepare graduates to meet the evolving demands of healthcare with competence and compassion. Her impact extends globally through her leadership of international mission trips to India and through her creation of transformative learning experiences for nursing students.
She is an active member of many professional organizations and serves as the Chair of the Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP) Nominating Committee and the APRN Chair of IANANT. Dr. Abraham continues to provide patient care as an FNP with Innovista Medical Center, ensuring her teaching remains grounded in current, real-world practice.
The Indian American Nurses Association of North Texas (IANANT) is a non-for-profit 501(C)3 organization based in Flower Mound, Texas. IANANT’s mission and goals are to unite all Indian nurses and nursing students of Indian origin and heritage as a professional body under one umbrella at the national level.
