LHSON Hosts Alumni Reunion

October 25, 2025

The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) joined together in celebration of its annual LHSON Alumni Reunion. Hosted on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the LHSON Academic Building, alums gathered for a buffet brunch and nursing showcase experience. Guests experienced first-hand our school motto: Learn.Lead.Serve.® in a modern and memorable way. Alums had the opportunity to stroll three floors of the nursing school with new and dear friends to experience interactive, inspiring and nostalgic nursing themes. Upon arrival, alums enjoyed shopping at two “pop-up” shops, the Baylor Bookstore and Nikki Smith Designs, as well as pose for fun photo keepsakes at the photo booth.

As the brunch program began, Dean Linda Plank welcomed everyone and gave an opening prayer and brief State of the School remarks. The nostalgic event recognized all graduates from the classes of 1975, 1985, 1995, and 2005 celebrating their 50th, 40th, 30th, 20th and 10th anniversaries. Special certificates were announced by Dr Lyn Prater, PhD, RN, CNE, Clinical Professor, Traditional Undergraduate Level 4 Coordinator, LHSON.

Continuing the tradition of honoring outstanding individuals with awards to commemorate their commitment and support of nursing, the 2025 award winners included:

  • LHSON Distinguished Recent Graduate Award, Bethany Blacker
  • LHSON Friend of Nursing Award, David and Shirley Quine
  • LHSON Distinguished Alumni Award, Robin Hurst

The group also heard a touching scholarship testimony from Level 4 nursing student, Valerie Moon, followed by inspiring words on giving back by Janis Kovar, Senior Director of Development. The Benediction was shared by Kirby Key, who serves on the Deans Board of Advocates. Concluding the memorable event, drawings for prizes were announced followed by singing “That Good Old Baylor Line” led by students, staff and faculty. After the brunch, guests were invited to explore the first floor interactive Simulation display, and then onto the second floor to browse student organizations, LHSON nursing programs, missions and on the third floor, the Store (AKA: food pantry). Finally, the immersive experience continued on the fourth floor with the LHSON Historical Gallery funded by Elizabeth Schell Wise Dean’s Endowed Excellence Fund, and the

Hall of Remembrance adorned with Endowed Scholarship plaques and portraits of past Deans. Plus, this floor also included Nursing Class Composites, Honored Classes Certificate pick-up, and Door Prize winner pick-up.

In addition, the LHSON is grateful to those that contributed gifts and pledges to make a meaningful difference in the lives of future Baylor nurses. Now, more than ever, the impact of nurses is felt worldwide. LHSON is leading the way by holistically preparing and educating students in mind and spirit to fulfill their calling. Each gift to Baylor Nursing will support future Baylor nurses as they Learn.Lead.Serve.®
