BU LHSON Raised $42,700 on North Texas Giving Day

September 18, 2025

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) participated for the thirteenth consecutive year in Communities Foundation of Texas’ annual North Texas Giving Day, designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes. Online donations were made from 6 a.m. to midnight on North Texas Giving Day to nonprofits listed on www.NorthTexasGivingDay.org.  This year during the 18-hour online giving day we surpassed our goal of $10,000 with 75 donors and are grateful for the generosity of 113 donors who gave to help LHSON raise $42,700 to support student scholarships.

“What a blessing our Baylor alumni, parents and friends are to LHSON,” said Janis Kovar, Senior Director of Development, Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. “We appreciate the generous donors. All of the gifts made on North Texas Giving Day to the LHSON were truly appreciated and together make a big difference to our nursing students.”

The LHSON hosted numerous giving challenges to inspire support such as a Cohort Giving Challenge between Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 plus, FastBacc®, DABSN and Graduate students based on which cohort had the most donors on percentage of class size and donor participation. The winning cohort was Level 1. We also met our Night Owl Challenge between 8:00 pm and midnight that resulted in an additional $1,000 from an anonymous donor.

Established in 2009, North Texas Giving Day is presented by Communities Foundation of Texas and is dedicated to strengthening local nonprofits. With a vision of building thriving communities for all, CFT works locally and across the state with many individuals, families, companies, foundations, and nonprofits through a variety of charitable funds and strategic grantmaking initiatives. Looking ahead, the next North Texas Giving Day will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
