LHSON Noted with Highest Undergraduate Major Enrollment at Baylor University
The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) located in Dallas, Texas is pleased to share that nursing’s undergraduate enrollment is reported as the highest undergraduate major at Baylor University. There are 126 undergraduate degree programs at Baylor.

The Undergraduate Program is part of the solution to meet the significant nursing shortage,” said Brandy L. The LHSON offers Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees through Traditional, FastBacc® (one-year accelerated) and Distance Accelerated BSN (DABSN) programs. Plus, the LHSON offers an online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with tracks that include: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP); Nurse-Midwifery, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP); Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP); Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP); Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP): Executive Nurse Leadership (ENL) and U.S. Army Anesthesia Nursing (USAPAN). Total LHSON nursing enrollment is 1,950 of which undergraduate enrollment is 948 – BSN 605 (Trad 384, FastBacc® 44, and DABSN 177) and pre-nursing 343. Graduate enrollment is 1,002 (DNP 747, ENL 93, MW 59, and Army 103).
Complementing this news is the LHSON’s placement in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) ranking. LHSON’s undergraduate nursing program moved up eight places to No. 31 in the U.S. News & World Report - 2024 Best Colleges Nationally. In addition, U.S. News & World Report 2024 Best Graduate Schools rankings list several LHSON programs, including the DNP program at No. 66 nationally and “Best Nursing” specialty rankings for LHSON’s USAGPAN, which operates at the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, at No. 8 nationally, and Baylor’s Nurse-Midwifery program, which is No. 21 in the nation.

Baylor University reported a total enrollment of 20,824 students (15,155 undergraduate and 5,669 graduate/professional students). While 60% of students originate from Texas, Baylor students come from all 50 states and 100 countries.

The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) located in Dallas, Texas, was established in 1909 as a diploma program within Baylor Hospital in Dallas, which is now Baylor Scott & White Health’s Baylor University Medical Center, and in 1950 became one of the six degree-granting schools of Baylor University.
