Baylor University LHSON Announces New Midwifery Track Coordinator

The Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (LHSON) congratulates Shirley Marion, DNP, CNM, APRN, Clinical Assistant Professor, DNP Faculty, on being named the new Midwifery Track Coordinator as of May 1, 2023. Dr. Marion follows in the footsteps of Dr. Jennifer Hensley who served five years at Baylor University LHSON as a revered Clinical Professor and DNP-NM Specialty Track Coordinator.

Dr. Marion brings over 20 years of experience in women’s health. She always shares a strong motto from Jude 22, "And of some have compassion, making a difference." Dr. Marion earned her DNP from Frontier Nursing University, Post-Masters in Nurse-Midwifery from University of Kansas, MSN (education) from Liberty University, BSN from University of Pittsburgh, and Diploma in Nursing from Conemaugh Valley School of Nursing. She joined the LHSON in 2021.

Outside the classroom, Dr. Marion is actively involved in clinical practice research. Most recently, she presented on “Care for the Adolescent” and was just published along with her peers on the article, “Prenatal Considerations and Outcomes for Girls Aged 14 and Under: Development of a multidisciplinary team in a large tertiary care facility.” Dr. Marion has also received awards in the clinical setting such has Denton County’s Best OB/GYN Care, Best Midwifery Care, and DFW “Mom Approved” OB provider. Additionally, Dr. Marion is very involved in her local church and is the mother of five kids, three of whom are triplets.
