Work
Dr. Wagner is a Clinical Assistant Professor as well as program coordinator for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Track at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing (BULHSON). She joined BULHSON in 2021, specializing in Neonatology and teach students through lecture and simulation She has been a clinical faculty at North Georgia College and University and Breanau University for undergraduate nursing students in Atlanta Georgia. She has also been clinical faculty at UTMB @ Galveston for NNP students. Her professional background includes over 14 years of experience as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) throughout the DFW Metroplex, at Parkland Hospital, Children’s Medical Center Dallas, and Millennium Medical Group. She has over 39 years of nursing experience in various areas of clinical practice.
Dr. Wagner is distinguished in her field and is regarded as a clinical expert in neonatal care and is involved in several quality improvement projects in mechanical and non-invasive respiratory management for neonates born at less than or equal to 29 weeks gestation. She is often called on to share her knowledge and expertise with nurses and other healthcare providers in other parts of the world. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau as well as the University of Alabama International Honor Society. Dr. Wagner is published in various medical journals as well as co-authored nursing related texts and has presented at international conferences on subjects related to neonatal care.
Community
Aside from spending time with my family, Dr. Wagner does outreach by teaching STABLE which focuses on newborn stabilization to small community health facilities and also teaches common neonatal procedures in simulations lab for nurse practitioners, Fellow and Attending physicians. She is active in her church and assists with providing school supplies for the youth.
Dr. Wagner is also an active member of the Academy of Neonatal Nursing (ANN), The Association of Women's Health, Obstetric & Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), and The National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN). Dr. Wagner reviews and revises educational guides, CE courses, and volunteers for ANN, in which she writes review questions and short articles for Neonatal Network Journal. She also volunteers for the National Certification Corporation by writing exam questions for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification exam. In addition to these volunteer activities, Dr. Wagner also does global work in Uganda, The Gambia, and India. Dr. Wagner is a Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) trainer and taught Nurse Midwives, Physicians, and Nurse Anesthetists in The Gambia and continues to provide refresher courses as well as lectures in newborn care and management. She is a faculty for Neonatal Nurse’s Essential Training and Skills (NNETS), which is a program of volunteers of NNPs, Nurses, and Neonatologists which is a partnership of Connecticut Children’s and Nakasero Hospital in Uganda and teaches online lectures for neonatal nurses.
