Awards at the LHSON
The Louise Herrington School of Nursing strives to recognize the academic and professional success of our students. One clear example is the conferring of awards to graduating students at our Pinning and Recognition Ceremony. The below information describes these awards and who is eligible for them.
The Learn.Lead.Serve Award (Undergraduate)
The LHSON motto articulates the nursing school’s desire for students to deeply learn the nursing profession, demonstrate leadership, and serve others. The Learn.Lead.Serve Dean’s Award recognizes undergraduate students who exemplify the motto and core mission of the Louse Herrington School of Nursing. It is awarded to a student demonstrating exemplary academic achievement and research activities, accomplished leadership in university activities, dedicated service to society, and admirable involvement in the Christian community. Each semester faculty select one student from each graduating undergraduate track (DABSN, FastBacc, and Traditional) who they believe best represents all aspects of the LHSON Motto.
DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nursing Students (Graduate & Undergraduate)
The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nursing Students recognizes and celebrates nursing students who have "gone above and beyond” in showing care and compassion to a patient or their family. A nominated student is one who is dedicated, motivated by compassion, genuinely caring, adaptable, and demonstrates not only the best clinical care but showcases dignity and kindness to their patients, families, and their communities. Each semester faculty select one student from each graduating track (APRN, DABSN, ENL, FastBacc, and Traditional) who best represents the DAISY Award of care and compassion.
Highest Ranking Nursing GPA (Undergraduate)
The highest ranking nursing GPA recognizes the graduating undergraduate nursing student with the highest nursing GPA in their academic track (DABSN, FastBacc, and Traditional).
The Honors Award (Undergraduate)
The Honors Award recognizes an outstanding undergraduate nursing student that demonstrates academic excellence across Baylor University. It is award to students at the Honors Convocation as part of Baylor’s Academic Honors Week that occurs in April.
DNP Outstanding Project Award (Graduate)
The DNP Outstanding Project Award is given to the student or student team with a DNP project that demonstrates a high-level mastery of an area of advanced nursing practice and outstanding focus on the translation of evidence into practice. Each semester faculty select one student / team from each graduating graduate track (APRN and ENL) who they believe had the most outstanding project.
