Work and Education
Dr. Emily Fondren is a Clinical Associate Professor at Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. She teaches for the Distance Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (DABSN) Program.
Dr. Fondren’s background includes both faculty nursing roles since 2011 and various patient care positions since 2003. Her educational instruction with students is informed by her experiences as a registered nurse in critical care, med-surg, organ and bone marrow transplant, hospice, and oncology.
Committees and Organizations
Dr. Fondren serves on the Curriculum Committee and Mentoring Committee at LHSON. She is the Chair-Elect of the LHSON Curriculum Committee. She currently serves as the Secretary for Sigma Theta Tau, Eta Gamma Chapter.
Research and Presentations
Dr. Fondren completed her DNP at Samford University, where she completed a doctoral project on specialized training for new nurses and best practices for nursing preceptors. Her additional research interests include hospital discharge patient teaching, faculty/student relations and civility, and innovative teaching practices in nursing education.
Community
Dr. Fondren enjoys being involved in her local community. She is highly involved in her local church by facilitating youth bible studies and teaching Bible Drill. She participates in a weekly Bible study. Dr. Fondren is involved in the care of her community by assisting the school nurse at the local high school. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.
