Work and Education
Professor Marino joined to Baylor University in the fall of 2023, having spent the past 7 years as a clinical associate professor teaching online in the graduate nursing program for West Virginia University. A nurse practitioner since 1997, she is dual certified in family practice and gerontology. She has taught advanced pharmacotherapeutics, health policy (Master and Doctoral level), APRN role transition, DNP capstone and didactic courses in the family nurse practitioner track. Dr. Marino maintains a clinical practice in primary care and addiction/recovery. She is owner of The Concierge NP, LLC, a direct access, primary care, house calls practice. She is also the founder of the Aila Accad Center for Nurse Entrepreneurship, a business development center supporting nurses who own health related businesses.
Committees
While at WVU, Professor Marino served on many Nursing School Committees. These include the Graduate Outcomes, MSN/DNP Curriculum Committee, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and By-Laws. She served on various task forces, including Academic Integrity, Scholarly Writing in Graduate Programs and Remote Exam Proctoring.
Articles and Presentations
Outside the classroom, Professor Marino contributes to both nursing publications and nursing associations. She is currently serving as the Vice Chair of the Individual Member Division of the American Nurses Association and is the WV State Rep to the Nurses on Boards Coalition (NOBC). She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She has served the West Virginia Nurses Association as President, APRN Congress Chair and ANA Membership Assembly Representative and the Future of Nursing WV as Interim Executive Director and Chair of the Leadership Team. She garnered over $1.5 million dollars for the FONWV from federal, state, and local entities to develop programming in support of nurse entrepreneurship, creating the only nurse business development center in the nation and serving as it’s Director. She co-authored the chapter “Leadership through Entrepreneurship” published in 2020 In Advanced Practice Nursing Leadership: A Global Perspective, Editors, Sue Hassmiller, PhD and Joyce Pulcini, PhD. With Springer Publishing. This publication will be translated in French for publication in 2024. She is widely sought after as a speaker on nurse entrepreneurship and the nurse’s role in health policy.
Community
Finally, Laure Marino is involved in her local community. Aside from spending time with her husband and she is a volunteer with several United Way initiatives including the Gabriel Project, the Warming Station and the homeless count. She volunteers with the Kanawha Cares Coalition and SOAR (Solutions Oriented Addiction Recovery) as a street medicine provider. She has also served on the board of WV 211 and ABLE Families, and as an RCIA sponsor and Coordinator of the Thanksgiving Food Project with Blessed Sacrament Parish and was the Eagle Scout Project Manager for Troop 2 with the Buckskin Council for many years. She has served as a Camp Nurse with Camp Dogwood (AnBryce Foundation) and on medical mission trips to Haiti.
